Winter weather
Bob & Esther will remember this as one of the coldest and snowiest winter we can remember.  The actual temperature plus the wind chill have kept us inside most of February and March is starting out the same.  Will be very happy when spring arrives.

Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019 Very Cold

We had between 10  -  11 inches of snow.  We didn't go to church.  We felt the wind chill was dangerous if our car stopped at our age.  We have a couple lazy type days. (not doing much)
Snow is pretty, but hard to get around in at our age.

Hot & Humid

We are having a week of yes very hot and humid weather.  We do need some rain.  The crops in this area look beautiful.  They could use rain.  The corn fields are now over Bob's head high.  Off to bed now.

Sleepless again - Coldest night of the yearso far!

Sleepless and Cold
Can't sleep again. That isn't all bad, because I always get a lot done when I can't sleep.  At 2:40 am the actually temperature was  -22  degrees with a windchill of -40 degrees. Church has been cancelled for today , because of the danger of the extreme cold weather.  Last weekend was our first snow storm.  This weekend starting Friday till Saturday noon we got about 7 inches of snow.  There was a lot of wind also.  Yesterday afternoon. (Saturday)   I was setting in our living room writing Christmas cards.  I got 35 finished.  I looked out the window and there was a tractor with a front end loader cleaning our sidewalks.  It was our mayor, Tom Eckmann.  He cleaned a wide path.  Cameron will still have to do our lower sidewalk and also around to the back door, oh and shovel our steps.  Well I just want to say.  I love the beauty of the snow, but really do not like the extreme COLD.

Leaks

Leaks
We have had a leak in our small bedroom ceiling.   The owner was down again Monday and put some more tar in different spots.  Also our Pastor and one of the deacons came and did some taring.  We had rain the other night and so far it isn't leaking.  It wasn't a real hard rain through so we need to have a hard rain to see if everything is sealed.  They have worked hard on it.  We appreciate there working on it.

DANGEROUS COLD TEMPS - WIND CHILLS

Last week end Jan. 9th-Jan10th very low temps and windchill extremely low.  Again the Same dangers only temp were even lower.  Bob said we needed to stay in house and not travel to Fairmont for church.  Es was sick the first week end of the month so she has missed church 3 weeks in a row.  She is ready for spring with no more -30 to -40 wind chills.

Our daughter lives in New Jersey  I just saw on their local weather that overnight they could have 6-8 inches of snow in their area and maybe an additional inch or 2 this morning.  So guess I will go to bed as we have a number of activities scheduled for later today.

DEEP FREEZE

Deep Freeze
At seven thirty this morning it was -6 actual temp with -29 wind chill.  Bob & I was remembering one time in Rice Lake, WI when it got down to an actual temp of -45 degrees with a wind chill of -100 degrees.  Our pipes froze, but didn't break.  Used a hair dryer to get them thawed out.  Now I have to tell you we were cold.  I love the beauty of winter, but in honesty the the extreme cold NO. One of our dear friends from Oshkosh, WI funeral is today. (Dorothy Fuller)  So many good memories of she and her husband and time we spent with them.

Didn't get to church today.  I have a bad cold and have spent the largest share of the day in bed. 

Severe Weather

Severe Weather tonight in our area. The storm siren sounded twice. The radio station in the city near us advised everyone in our town and several towns in our area to head for shelter or lowest area of your house. We went to our basement. The lights went out. We were in the basement for 1 1/2 hours before the radio station gave and announcement that we were safe. We got heavy rain. Down the street from us on the corner we can see part of a tree broken off. We will have to check things out in the morning.

Tornadoes

Tornadoes
The tornadoes missed us yesterday. There were 36 tornado sightings in Minnesota yesterday. Some of them did much devastating damage. The winds were strong here and we did get rain.

Weather

It was such a beautiful day here yesterday. Today is also pretty. This afternoon we may have thunder storms and maybe hail. All the crops are up and looking really great after some much needed rain. I enjoy driving out in the country and seeing everything green and so alive. Sure hope we don't have really bad weather this afternoon and evening. Have a wonderful day!
